We arrived at moms in idaho safely at 1:18am Sat morning.

Khorneson clipped a deer with the front right corner of the minivan while driving down the 7% grade road into Lewiston. Leave it to my husband to finaly find the silver lining for something. He says its the universe telling him to never come back to WA state.... go figure.

Any way, we are here until Monday morning. Visiting with momma and Sam. My sister Shannon and her husband Mike are here with their tribe of three girls. My nephew monty is here from florida as well.

How's the deer? How's the car? How's you?

Sorry I should have posted sooner. :) The deer is fine, ran from the sceane of the impact. Khorneson said "She wasn't moving quick enough so I had to smack her with the broom." I nicknamed my minivan my "broom" after a key chain that I have that says "My other car is a broom." So anyways, deer ok, van ok.

Minions ok though Wolfbite says she has had enough driving in high winds. Lol

K is ok and doing the majority of the driving.

I am ok, homeless, but ok. Getting to see some family and friends on this trip east so its helping.

Kittens are misserable and the turtle is, seemingly, ok.

:) Ok so in half an hour we are adrift and homeless for the next several weeks. Living out of the van and suitcases.

Two adults, two teenagers, two cats and one baby turtle all cramed into a dodge grand caravan. Driving cross country.

moving truck day

17:34 Jun 24 2010
Times Read: 645

................... where to start

So I get a call from a guy that says he is the second truck driver for loading as the first didn't think he had enough room on his truck for our stuff. The guy is asking me to bring him my copy of the bill of lading to the gate so he can get authorisation to access the base.

Khorneson took the van to dodge to be fixed so I am stuck at the house.

I told the guy I was not able to assist him. He got upset with me................ as if this is MY fault.I hang up with him and two minutes later the moving and packing company call me to tell me the driver is going to be late. I was all.. yeah I just got a call from frank about not being able to get on base for lack of paper work. Diane, the company's dispatcher/schedualer, has no idea who I am talking about. Great.

Hang up the phone and two minutes later frank calls me back, irate with me because I didn't answere my phone when the gate guards tried to call me. I askesd what they needed from me and he said " I need you to tell them that I am here to move your house hold goods for you. So that you can sponsor me to get on the base." I was all...seriously? Fine... called the guard at the gate and she asks where I live and the guys purpose and if I am military....????? Grrrrr now I am clearly upset hang up the phone and call the moving company.

I tell them everything that has gone on these last, now, 4 days and they are appologising for everything. They want this frank guy to call them as soon as he gets to my house, of which I live. 5 minutes from the gate, and he is STILL not here yet.

Diane tells me the actual driver is at their ahsop getting his new crew together because the one he hired to help him load quit for some reason. The company got after him as well because they didn't know about frank.

I swear that if things do not start going smoother today I am going to need to be commited..

Oh and I just learned the packers packed up my rum chocolates...delicious little things to be savored and taken sparingly on special occasions. Sighs...

Driver 2 arrived with his helper 5 minuts before driver 1 and his helper. I refused to let them into my home until I saw identification and verification that they where indeed to be handling my stuff. There was some grumbling but they complied. So far loading the trucks has gone well.

Well until driver 1 decided to open khornesons rifle case without talking to me first. Inside is not a rifle but instead about 50 warhammer and 40k minitures. Had he asked I would have gladly opened it up for him and shown him the contents. He opened it up wrong to start with and then had the nerve to get pissed at me saying that k should have wrapped each one individualy and packed them in a box. I retorted with "you should have asked me to open it, because if it had been a riffle he would have messed that up too..oh so yes at least one miniture got broken. I took a pic for him to see and repacked the case. It is now wrapped in brown paper and taped shut and inventoried.

*growls* They all need their asses kicked. Can I ask something- is this under the new system- the DP3? Did you book the move online?

I would bet it is.

I am sooo sad to read this. No matter what you did it seems this company was not ready for the move. And THAT is not right.

*growls again*

K went to transportation, as we are required, to arrange the move. There was lots of gripes from the packers about new forms and changed forms. It was the most confusing process that I have ever been gthrough. I have forms from the packers for all the boxes. I have forms from both truck drivers bring my grand total to three seperate sets of forms. I do want to say that I LIKE the high value form and I recomend strongly that when your crews pack the high value stuff that they make a mark of some kind on the box that it is high value. This way when they do the inventory they have an easier time of it.

packers overall

The where scheduled for two, decidede they needed three.

On the third day the manager who said they needed 3 days sent them out on two other jobs putting them to my home around noon. They stayed till 10pm.

Packer 1, while a nice man, likes to talk. He also won't let people help him with the paper work.

Packer 2, also a nice man, likes to work and I would gladly hire him any time to pack my home again.

Packer 3, from day one, nice guy former marine and also would hire again in a heart beat.

Packer 4, from day one, kinda wishy washy. Showed up to help and packer 1 sent him home cause he showed up at 3pm after having finished another job he was called in on. .....should have let him and they guy with hims stay in my opinion.

Packer 3, from day 2, ...................I fileded a complaint they didn't send him back.

Packers 1 and 2, day three, about drove me crazy. Because packer one, the crew chief, would not let packer 2 help him...packer two watched tv on his phone for 4 hours...chatted with thew kids and I..and packed up all the little things that we found while wandering the house.

packing day three..the final day

02:54 Jun 24 2010
Times Read: 654

Yeah right...

So the boss that came out Friday that said they needed three full days to pack us... sent the crew on two delivery jobs this morning. They didn't get to my house untill almost noon. Big surprise its 6:44pm and they are not done. The truck is scheduled to arrive between 8 am to 9am.

Nothing has been broke today and at the m/oment it looks like the crew chief is doing inventory. The kids, matt and I have wandered through the rooms to see what was left unpacked and we put together boxes to help finish this job. O.o

They didn't even touch the bathrooms, we had to bring all the stuff out and down stairs for it to get packed. Heck packer #2 is watching a movie on his phone while he waits for packer #1 to finish the inventory. Oh yeah and packer two has received two phone calls about a bassball game he is supposed to be playing in, that he is now missing.

Right now I am upset because we where supposed to go to dinner tonight and we have had to cancel. Wolfbite had to be taken to her drive class without dinner and pick something up on a break for her to eat. She is there until almost 9pm. Khornesone is. Upstairs wrestling with minion of destruction to eat up time while we continue to wait.

So know I think the worst part is that we helped the packers pack a fair amount of our stuff. I guess prhaps if they would have stopped talking and chattering so much over the past two days, we might be further along.

If they are not done by 7:30pm I am calling their office.

Packing day 2

02:05 Jun 23 2010
Times Read: 670

............ yeah

So ... another packing casualty. A ceramic turtle I painted was dropped and broken. When I asked packer #3 what happened the guy ignored me... I asked to see it and he looked at me and went back to packing up the broken pieces.

Later one of the guys was asking if there was an original box for a lamp that I have and I could not hear as I was upstairs and they where down, not sure where Matt went, I went to the stairs and asked what was needed. Packer #3 looked at me and then walked out of the house! I was all.. What the hell.. I asked the other guys what was needed and they told me and I confirmed there was no box for it anymore.

Packer #3 walked in looked at me again and I asked if there was a problem and he walked out again.. Matt walked in a few moments later and I was upset. I told him I was tired of getting ignored. He asked me what happened and I told him and he handled it.

Matt sent me to go get lunch for us as I was getting increasingly flustered by packer #3. While out I get an emergency call from Matt telling me a pipe burst in the house and the laundry room flooded. Freak out time.. I told him the number to housings maint line was on the fridge and asked what happened. He said he would tell me when I got home but something with the washer was all I heard him mumble.

So I get home and Matt had unhooked the washer and moved it away from the area it was in. While he had his back to the pipes, one of them burst. Seems there is hard water coming into the house and over the period of several years since this duplex was built, so the pipes rusted inside this box thing that was attached to the walls. SO.. when Matt unhooked the washer it Jared something inside the box that told the mass corrosion contained within that it was time to give up the ghost.. Water everywhere.

So.. Packers 1 and 2 had to quickly corral packer 3 and move boxes in the garage to get to the water shut off valve. That was done and maint came and fixed the broken pipes, amazed at the rust, and left. 3 boxes got wet, one bad enough that it had to be repacked.

So the kitchen is pretty much done, dinning room pretty much done, laundry room done, storage room done, garage mostly done, living room mostly done, iae's room done, alexis room half done, master bedroom half done. They finish tomorrow, moving truck comes on Thursday and we turn the house back over to the army housing company on Friday.

Packer 2 asked if we could take appart the counter top wine rack, sure no problem... so my finger pads on my right hand are blistered from trying to work the wine rack appart. Its a dowl and block set up, looks great when its together.

:( I am ready for this to be done now please.

Well as we have found out a little bit ago, packer #3 does not speak great english. OK I can see where that might be a communication issue. He will not be returning to the house tomorrow.

The box for my alienware PC has already been made and will be packed up in the morning first thing.

And looking at all these boxes.. Once we do find a home in Maryland I am going to be swamped for weeks. :/

Gahh I still have to take down the paintings on the windows I have done. Matt asked me if I was regretting painting them now.. I say NEVER! Besides they peal off like stickers since they are dry. :D

Oh yeah and I have been informed that all of my china has been packed into one box and is heavy as sin. The packers said "well we are not lifting it so it does not matter to us cause the moving truck guys will have to do that." I said.. " Yeah and then once at the new place *I* have to lift it.."

Iae said "Don't worry mom I will help you." and did his little muscle man pose then kisses me on the forehead. O.o

Hahhahhha... when I read this I was saying... "Oh? Let me get hold of packer number 3 as his ass needs kicked. You do not treat a member that way."

:( Sorry the things got broken, the water pipe busted sucked. Now to read more. Have to say- at this time I am dealing with a Lt. Col wife that is a hand full. But I am thinking of you while I bite my tongue and ask myself... What if this was Silverbow? Just stay calm...smile, do what she is asking no matter how nuts she is. lol

And we have had our first packing casulty

A miniture beer stien that belonged to my step father Rex, who passed in 1996, was set atop some boxes by a packer. It was set infront of a pile of buble wrap and Matt didn't see it, he went to get past the box and knocked it... there went the stien. :(

Moving in a week.. oi...

Oh VW, you would be happy to know that we warned the packers of my obsessino with lanterns, and glass things. :) Did so when we did the briefing, and reminded the company they assigned us when they called two days ago to make the appointment to come on friday to see what they needed to bring. Will remind them on friday again too. :D

So my time online is going to be scarce for the next few weeks but I will check in via my droid from the road.

Its a crazy week this week. Between Wolfbites driving classes, both kids still in school till next week, and Khornesone clearing the base.. Not to meantion I teach my last class friday night. Ha they got me to teach Mentoring and Coaching. I hope it goes well. LOL

The going away BBQ is Sunday and a lot of people have rsvped.. should be good.

Anyways.. Next week is the truely crazy one with the packers comming on tuesday through wednesday and the moving truck on thursday. We turn the house over on friday.

Wish us luck, we are going to need it.

I wish you luck, great movers, understand kids, low stress, no car trouble, maybe even a little fun in the upcoming weeks. Remember = in a year, when you look back on your life and all that you have done, will you care about the little things that are going to happen in these few weeks? Nah. Keep the family safe.
